Beautiful. Carnegie libraries featured a direct walkway leading to steps that symbolize the elevation of oneself through reading and education. This element was unfortunately not preserved when the Lincoln branch was renovated in Peoria.
Nothing makes my nerd heart happier than unexpectedly running into an old Carnegie library when I’m visiting a place for the first time.
There are a bunch ’round these parts! A real mecca of books, preservation & architecture. Something of a nerd trifecta.
